This month, I didn’t have to travel far to find the tropical breezes and flawless white-sand beaches that I’m clearly addicted to. My summer travel itinerary includes mostly long-haul flights of thirty hours or more, so when I’m offered an opportunity to visit a gorgeous destination and I only have to travel six hours, I’m ecstatic.

This was my first time in Panama City Beach and only my second time visiting Florida (after my trip to The Keys earlier this year). I arrived just after a storm, so the water wasn’t as clear as usual. Thankfully, most of the areas cleared up within just a few days — which offered a mesmerizing view during my Panhandle Helicopter tour.

Yep. Just a pod of dolphins playing near the shore — a normal occurrence in PCB.

I had the pleasure of visiting Shell Island twice on this trip. On my second day in PCB, I took a short ferry ride to the island and stayed for two hours, enjoying the solitude. My second visit was with a group from my Waverunner tour with Aquatic Adventures.

Shell Island is such a gem and it really makes Panama City Beach stand out from the other places I’ve visited in the United States. This uninhabited island with deep blue skies, emerald water and blindingly white sand made me fell like I had been transported to a far away land.

Traveling to destinations with such intense natural beauty always seems to ignite my creativity like dry brush fuels a wildfire. I come home feeling motivated and inspired. It’s what keeps me traveling and helps me stay sane.

This trip was the perfect kick off to my summer of travel. I checked a few items off my bucket list, including swimming with wild dolphins and taking a helicopter tour of the Panama City Beach coast.

Next up is Italy, Bonaire and then Mauritius. Speaking of my upcoming travel schedule; I hate to admit it, but the next four weeks are going to be somewhat challenging for me. I’ll be visiting dream destinations, but my itineraries are booked solid — with several long travel days — only allowing a few days of rest in between each trip. The toughest part is being apart from Scott for such a long stretch. The more I travel alone, the more I realize I want him by my side.

I’m grateful for my life and every opportunity I have to realize my dream of exploring and photographing the world. I just wish I could share more of these life-changing experiences with my best friend. There is a light at the end of the tunnel though, because we’ll be spending his birthday together in Mauritius!!

I want to thank Travel Mindset and Visit Panama City Beach for introducing me to the beauty of this destination. As always, all opinions are my own.

  1. My family has been going to PCB for years. My parents went on their honeymoon in 1958. They took us when we were growing up, we took our children and now our daughter takes her family. Scenery has changed, but great place. Many memories of Shell Island. Give it a try. I think you will like it. Always something fun to do. Angelo’s Steakhouse is a MUST if you like beef. It has a huge cow out front. Also serve chicken and seafood. Children’s menu. Delicious, plenty of food and prices in line with other places. We tried another beach and our granddaughter was disappointed and bored.

Water colors are so fake don’t ruin by using color filters the natural emerald green waters are beautiful in their real true hues..

I didn’t do any color grading on these! My photos tend to be true to the natural colors. The ocean changes depending on tides, temperature and swell. It’s the same way where I live in San Diego. One day it could look like Tahiti and the next it could look brown and gross.

This is not Panama. It’s Panama City Beach in Florida.
