The Best Way to Learn a New Language

Struggling to learn a language? The Your Plan app by Rosetta Stone will help you with your language goals with a personalized plan!

Let’s face it; learning a new language is hard. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve committed myself to learn more Spanish, only to become discouraged when I found myself tripping over my words in a Spanish speaking country.

In fact, it was only when I committed myself to learn Spanish through Rosetta Stone did any of my previous Spanish lessons really sink in. I used their program to understand different tenses and grammar while applying the lessons to real-life situations.

Suddenly, shopping at the grocery store and hailing a cab in Mexico became a breeze!

However, one of the key tenets of Rosetta Stone is that they’re constantly evolving and making the experience of learning a new language easier for their customers. Enter Your Plan.

The Your Plan app by Rosetta Stone is the perfect tool to help you learn a language on the go with personalized lessons and study reminders, which helped me tremendously on my recent trip to Japan!

Whether you want to learn a new language to make traveling easier, converse with family members, or brush up before you travel, then there is no time like the present to start. We’ve partnered with Rosetta Stone to show you how!

Use a Personalized Language Plan

Not all language learners are created equal. Some are beginners while others are more advanced, and some need specific language depending on why they’re learning the language to begin with.

Learn a Language on the Go

Gone are the days where you have to be in a classroom, plopped in front of a book, or stuck at home on your computer to learn a new language. With your phones at the ready any time of day you can study a language on the go; no matter where in the world you are.

Not only does Your Plan come in app form for both Android and IOS, the app includes downloadable lessons. This means that whether or not you have Wi-Fi, you can still continue with the lessons.

Make Your Language Lessons Routine

As anyone not in a language class can attest, the hardest part about learning a new language is actually sticking with it. It’s so easy to get swept up in the idea to expand your language skills, and then fall off the wagon after a couple of months when you get distracted.

Thankfully, Rosetta Stone’s Your Plan App has features that notify you when it’s time to pick up your phone and study. Plus, their app includes bite-sized lessons so taking time to learn doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment.

Even twenty minutes a day adds up!

Use Different Techniques

It’s not just speaking that helps you learn a language; it would be almost impossible to do so without being able to read and write the language too.

What makes using Rosetta Stone so cool is that they take this into consideration and mix up the lessons so that you can learn to speak, read, and write your chosen language.

Set Tangible Goals

If you’re someone who works well by using goals to motivate you, then I recommend doing this to help you learn a new language.

Whether you set a short-term goal of “study 5 days a week”, or a long-term goal of holding down a conversation in the language in one year, knowing exactly what you want to achieve by learning the new language will help you stick to your lessons.

Go Traveling

Want to put your new language skills to use? Travel!

Traveling to a destination where your learned language is widely spoken will work wonders in helping you retain the information you learned with Your Plan. And if you feel hesitant, or if you struggle to know the word for what you want to say when you’re abroad, then you can just reference the Your Plan app.

  1. This is definitely something I’ve always wanted to do. I’d love to learn to speak Spanish or Italian, I think. I do think it’s pretty bad that most people around the world can speak many languages but the English never bother. I guess we don’t need to, but I also seriously think people should make the effort. Especially when visiting another country! This is such a great post! 🙂
